The Million Dollar Question: What Was A Claw Hammer Doing Next To The Couch And TVAn ex-convict will spend the next seven years in prison for hitting a friend on the head with a claw hammer in a dispute over spilled beer.Gregory Hill, 47, was convicted Nov. 2, 2007, of second-degree assault. The victim, Brian Dudas, 46, was attacked in Hill’s Plymouth Avenue flat after they had watched a televised hockey game late on Dec. 21, 2006. State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller imposed the sentence. Prosecutor Christopher H. Gresham said Hill was sentenced as a second violent felony offender. In 1998, he was convicted of burglary and spent four years in prison. Gresham said Dudas, a Buffalo truck driver, identified Hill during the brief jury trial. Dudas said the back of his skull was cracked with a claw hammer after he accidentally spilled beer on Hill’s couch while they and others watched a Buffalo Sabres game. Grasham said Dudas was hospitalized about six months after the incident. |
