Man issued 50 traffic citations in one day

A Martin County man has been arrested on more than 50 traffic citations — all in one day.

Boynton Beach police said 46-year-old Elvis Alonzo Barrett fled from police trying to stop him for a traffic violation Thursday morning. Police said he ran through red lights, crashed into another car and a fence. Read more...

Convicted sex offender caught with marijuana while registering address

A man who showed up at the Stark County Sheriff’s Department to register as a sex offender was arrested on a drug charge.

Jail records said Richard E. Gavin Jr., 22, of 1927 Sixth St. SW, was arrested at 9:16 a.m. Tuesday at the jail on a charge of illegal conveyance of a weapon or drugs into a detention facility, marijuana possession and a driving under suspension warrant. Read more...

Ohio Man Called 911, Made Drug Deal

Police in Cleveland say a man who called 911 put the dispatcher on hold to make a drug deal.

Police say the 20-year-old man called 911 Saturday night to report that two men with guns were watching him near West 44th and Clark Avenue and hung up.

The dispatcher called him back, and during the call the man asked the dispatcher to hold on and made a drug deal. Read more...

Throwing your money away...literally

Workers at a Brandenburg steel plant couldn’t believe their eyes when €170,000 in cash rained from a safe that a bank had sent to be scrapped, daily Henningsdorfer Generalanzeiger reported on Friday.

Each week, the plant in Henningsdorf just northwest of Berlin receives a shipment of scrap metal, the paper said. But on January 14, a delivery from the Berliner Postbank spayed cash when workers cut into a safe.

Berlin police spokesman Bernhard Schodrowski confirmed the incident, saying authorities had conducted an investigation on suspicion that the safe had been stolen. read more...

Stinking of booze, Ivy League irritant Charles Claudio Simpkins, 24, allegedly climbed into the back of a police cruiser dispersing night crawlers from the Theater District early Saturday morning and in a refreshing new twist on “Do you know who I am?” demanded of officers, “(Expletive) you, give me a (expletive) ride, I work for the district attorney’s office.”

Simpkins, a politically active conservative, is in his final year at Harvard Law School and - until his bust on charges of being disorderly and resisting arrest - was hand-picked by Harvard to be an intern in Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley’s office. read more...
