Bah Humbug to you too, Santa
Barry Goldberg said a nice gesture went unappreciated at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at Lisbon Landing over the weekend.He said he purchased $1,300 worth of $10 gift cards to Wal-Mart with the intention of dressing as Santa Claus and giving them out in front of the store. He said it wasn’t a gimmick it or stunt. He said he was just moved to do something nice to make the holiday brighter.
But his gesture of kindness as the Secret Santa didn’t last long.
“The next thing I knew, they turned to me and said, ‘You have to leave the store. You can’t do this here. You’re soliciting,’” Goldberg said. “I said, ‘I’m not soliciting anything. I’m giving.’” read more...

Headline Of The Year Nominee...
A LAW student and the professor who paid to have sex with her face up to a year in jail after the student told police she was a prostitute.The woman went to police in Ann Arbor, Michigan to press charges against the professor for slapping her during sex.
She ended up confessing to having as many as nine other clients who paid up to $US500 for sex. She told police she needed the money to pay tuition. read more...

Way to fly under the radar, big guy
A MAN who fraudulently claimed more than £12,000 in benefits after claiming he could only walk 20 yards was caught out . . . after he was spotted completing a 10k run.Brian Rawsthorne, 50, took part in the Bupa Great Manchester run in May 2007 and crossed the finishing line after two hours and eight minutes.
He even appeared in the Manchester Evening News boasting how he had lost two-and-a-half stone as he trained for the race.
But at the same time he was receiving Disability Living Allowance and was paid £12,300 between November 2004 and September 2007. read more...

Some "Mistake"
A MAN who tried to suffocate a prostitute told police the woman accidentally put her head inside the plastic bag.The Supreme Court in Brisbane was told on Monday 22-year-old Dirk Antoni Van Den Brand had tried to suffocate the 37-year-old woman at her Brisbane home in September last year.
Prosecutor Michael Lahane said Van Den Brand slipped the plastic bag over the woman's head and tightened his hands around her neck as she escorted him to the door.
Mr Lahane said his plan was to render her unconscious so he could steal back the $100 he had paid for sex just minutes earlier. read more...

Chicago newspaper columnists dueled Thursday over whether embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich could employ an insanity defense to fight corruption allegations.Federal prosecutors this week charged the two-term Democratic Illinois governor with attempting to auction off the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama for personal gain. Blagojevich already was under federal scrutiny over alleged "pay-to-play" politics involving the sale of state jobs and contracts for campaign contributions and was caught on tape allegedly pushing an effort to leverage the Senate appointment. read more...
