In Your Neighborhood w/Lou Niles heads into the Fall with a FREE 21+ heavy psychedelic rock event at the Pour House on September 22nd!

The psych rock scene has been around for a while, but of late, a nice group of bands have been building a strong scene out of San Diego. In North County we have a wealth of great heavy rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock groups. Check out the recent article in City Beat by Jeff Terich where he profiles just a few of the bands in the scene. The article mentions Joy, Wild Honey (who are having some member change troubles, but will hopefully be back with us soon), Petyr and Harsh Toke. Harsh Toke is full of our North County/Oceanside friends and we plan on having them soon.

For the September edition of In Your Neighborhood w/Lou Niles, we chose to highlight a couple bands not mentioned by the local media that will blow your mind. Both of these bands certainly are required mentions as part of the list of great rock bands growing this psych rock/acid rock scene out of San Diego. Hey, writers can’t help it if editors only give them a certain amount of space in print. That’s why we love the internet.

Loom is a mainstay in the scene and has a great heavy blues rock sound filled with darkness and loaded with riffs. The headliner on the show is Great Electric Quest, a band getting recognized all around the nation for their heavy, psych, stoner rock metal. They don’t play in San Diego very often because they are so busy playing major rock festivals around the country and even in Europe. Great Electric Quest has rocked festivals like Fuzzed Out!, Stoned Meadow of Doom, Psyched Out!, Electric Funeral and Sasquatch Europe. All major rock festivals.

You have an opportunity to catch these bands for FREE at the Pour House in Oceanside, right off the I-5 at Vista way on Coast Highway. As always I will spin local tunes and other favorites starting around 9pm, followed by live music from Loom and then Great Electric Quest.

See you at the show – Lou Niles
