IOWA TO GET CRAZY WITH ROCK GONE WILD
Iowa is going to rock this summer. That’s because it’s where the inaugural Rock Gone Wild festival will be held. Warrant, Skid Row, Lita Ford, Great White and Puddle of Mudd are just a few of the 50 groups playing the four-day long event. It all takes place from August 20th to the 23rd in Algona, Iowa. Spinal Tap is hitting the road…kind of. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, the guys behind the characters in the band, are heading out on a 30-date concert tour this year, just without the costumes. It’s called Unwigged & Unplugged and on the trek, the comic actors will perform the music of Spinal Tap as well as of the Folksmen, the group they portrayed in A Mighty Wind. According to Billboard, the tour kicks off on April 17th in Vancouver and runs through May 31st in Milwaukee. The trio still plan on releasing a Spinal Tap album on May 26th, complete with new songs and “original studio versions” of the live songs from This is Spinal Tap.03/04/2009
SUBLIME GET NEW SINGER
MTV News reports that the surviving members of Sublime have found a new singer. The only details reveal that it’s a “Southern Californian singer by the name of Rose.” Sublime lost their lead singer, Bradley Nowell, to a drug overdoes in 1996 just months before their debut album came out.03/02/2009

ROCK MEMORABILIA UP FOR BIDS
Some memorabilia from Van Halen, Rush, Kiss and others is up for bids and it’s all for a good cause. According to the L-A Daily News, rockers have donated some of their equipment to help a California sheriff’s deputy who is fighting leukemia. You can bid on a snare drum signed by Alex, Eddie and Wolfgang Van Halen, an autographed drum head from Rush’s Neil Peart, a Paul Stanley autographed guitar or a guitar signed by Velvet Revolver’s Slash, Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Dave Kushner.
