Mookie is on the air Monday thru Friday 10am - 2pm.
Very well, where do I begin? I’m a SoCal native from the ‘burbs with family scattered all over the country. I’d have to say that growing up; Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs were just as much of an influence on me as Nirvana and Alice In Chains. Some of my interests outside of the radio industry include the LA Lakers, politics, local music and white tennis shoes…

JANE’S WILL “LAND ON THEIR FEET OR DIE TRYING”
What’s the story behind the Jane’s Addiction reunion? Bassist Eric Avery has taken to the band’s blog to write about how it all happened and how Trent Reznor ended up as the producer for their upcoming album. Avery explained an email from an old friend helped convinced him to rejoin the band and that he began dreaming of Reznor as the ideal producer for the job from day one. He said that personal problems within the band almost stopped the reunion from getting started but that once the Nine Inch Nails singer was on board, they began to “deliver in spades.” He added that because both bands played the original Lollapalooza back in 1991, a collaboration makes “perfect conceptual sense.” Eric also said that they are giving this reunion all that they’ve got, simply writing, “we will finish on our feet or die trying.”02/23/2009
YOKO ONO’S “25 THINGS”
By now, anyone with a Facebook account has seen a “25 Things” post in which a friend lists 25 facts about themselves that people may not know. Well now, Yoko Ono has gotten in on the action. The widow of John Lennon has put up her own “25 Things” post and in it, she reveals how she wiggles her toes when she’s waiting, how she loves to be barefoot and how, because of her large head and small body, John called her “Martian.” In her list, Ono also talks about shoes, gloves, hats, rings, facial cream and some interesting things she thinks about. Check it all out at Yoko Ono’s Facebook page.02/18/2009
Coldplay to play the Middle East for big bucks!
For the first time in their career, Coldplay has been booked for a show in the Middle East, but their price isn’t cheap. Gigwise reports that the band will earn $2 million for a concert performed at the Emirates Palace in the United Arab Emirates. The Emirates Palace will likely sell out of the 15,000 available tickets, as Elissa Murtaza, the concert’s promoter, told Gigwise, “Regional fans of the band have waited a long time for this show and they won’t be disappointed.” Coldplay’s price tag of $2 million dollars for the one-off concert is remarkably similar to when Coldplay reportedly raked in almost the same amount to headline Japan’s Summer Sonic music festival in August 2008. It sure pays to be in Coldplay.02/17/2009
