ABOUT THE HOST... 91X legend Steve West is on weekdays 10 am to 2 pm. Join him for the 90s at Noon lunch. Steve also hosts Resurrection Sunday, 6 am to 10 am every Sunday where he plays the music that you grew up with in the early days of 91X with library of thousands of tunes and since Steve was a DJ here in "month 2" as he refers to it. Steve joined the 91X crew in February of 83 when 91X was but a baby sucking at his mother's teet, so he is probably the best qualified... Don't believe it? Check out the pictures below of Steve West through the years...

Butts and buttheads.
I really hate to rant but of the few things that bug, none bugs more than the smoker who hurls lit cigarette butts out of the window. I had a few calls from listeners who were following people who did just that this past Tuesday while four fires were buring around the county. I know people who say "I dont want to stink up the car with the smell of cigarettes" er, what? This notion makes no sense at all, YOU ARE SMOKING IN THE CAR, it's going to smell anyway. It is irresponsible and plain dumb. October is typically the driest month, Santa Anas blow and its hot. This makes October fire season. We have seen the destruction the fires have caused several times over the past decade. Please I beg of you, stop this madness. PS They sell car air fresheners at 7/1110/07/2008

Air show
This past weekend the Air Show entourage visited San Diego. I am still amazed at how some of these planes and their pilots manage to defy the laws of gravity. While watching the Blue Angels perform, I was fondly reminiscing about the time I was offered the media ride with the "Blues". One day a friend of mine who worked for Navy public affairs called me up and said 'Steve, I hope you don't mind, I put your name in for the Blue Angels media ride". "Do I mind?" was my response, I almost fell through the floor jumping up and down with anticipation and glee.I can tell you that ride was the most awesome thing I have ever done in my life. We went through a short briefing before the flight to learn about how to handle the "G" forces, and how to bale out should something go wrong. For some reason I wasnt too alarmed at that, after all I was going to flown by one of the best pilots in the Navy...to be continued09/25/2008
Just when you thought it was nearly over.....
For nearly 2 years now we have been subjected to one of the longest, nastiest political campaigns in history. Fear not it will soon be over. Election day is getting closer.........then it will start over for the midterms in 2010, then another 2+ year campaign for 2012.Seriously though, whoever you vote for in this upcoming election, please make sure you are fully informed about the candidates and the issues. Unfortunately we are surrounded by opinionated "talk radio and tv" hosts, who are sometimes extreme in their views. It is difficult to cut through this clutter and make an objective decision.
Personally, I do watch both Fox and MSNBC and for the most part hear the extreme views and rhetoric from the far right and the far left. For what its worth, if I am looking for more straight forward and honest reporting and a clearer picture I use BBC News from the UK.
There are millions of people with opinions, yours is the most important. You have the right to vote, use it.....wisely.
Now go register to vote and join us this weekend is a "Rock The Vote" block party weekend on 91X.
