Pearl Jam planned to play a free show in Seattle 25 years ago. The response was so big, they had to change to move venues and postpone. But eventually ‘Drop in the Park’ happened at beautiful Magnuson park.
I don’t remember it being a voter registration effort since I was too young to vote. But 30,000 showed up, and 3,000 registered to vote on site.
Cypress Hill opened up but hardly got through a song before the barricade was knocked down. The rest of their set was spent getting the crowd to back up so they could set it back up before Pearl Jam. For a minute we thought it wouldn’t happen.
