Miramar-based Embolden Beer Co. came on the scene in 2020, but when the company started paying homage to Japanese culture through a special line of Shogun beers in 2024, things really took off for them. Today, those beers are sold, not only in San Diego County – including Embolden’s new residence at Vista craft-beverage collective CoLab Public House – but in Asia. Get a feel for the company’s multi-tiered approach as the crew samples Embolden’s core West Coast IPA, Broken Record, and Shogun’s Dusk in Kyoto, a Japanese-style amber lager infused with rice and toasted matcha tea. It’s a taste of traditional SoCal mixed with the exoticness of the Far East, neither of which should be missed.
