Somehow, in a neighborhood flush with breweries producing every style under the sun, a University Avenue brewpub continues to standout behind high-quality beers. That business is The Original 40 Brewing, a seven-year-old brewpub headed by Kyle Fjalstad, the former director of Modern Times Beer’s vaunted barrel-aged beer program, whose next chapter finds him crafting nearly every style of ale and lager under the sun. In this episode of Beer for Breakfast, the crew checks out his latest West Coast IPA, Lumber Support, as well as his first-ever single-barrel pastry stout, a creation called Disk Crash that spent 60 months in rye whiskey barrels before being released in cans earlier this month. If that sounds decadent to you, you’re right. Press play and get in on the oaken overkill!
