It was 1996 when a pair of native islanders opened Coronado Brewing. Thirty years later, not only does is that namesake business still around, but the full-scale brewing company it spawned is one of the largest and healthiest in all of San Diego County. This week, the Beer for Breakfast crew lifts a pair of the company’s most popular beers of all time, a wheat ale brewed with citrus and honey called Orange Avenue and Mermaid’s Red Ale. The latter was rebrewed and canned as part of Coronado Brewing’s 30-year anniversary festivities, which are taking place all month at the beer biz’s OG brewpub and Bay Park tasting room.
