It’s the kick off of San Diego Beer Week and the Beer for Breakfast crew couldn’t think of a better way to start things off than featuring Thorn Brewing Company, especially since they will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of their Barrio Logan location.
Marty, Danielle, and Brewmaster Paul start with A Life Well Lived Cold IPA collab with Cervecería Insurgente, based in Tijuana. This 6.5% ABV Cold IPA is cold fermented and is light, crisp, and dank, with resinous citrus notes. They also had Midnight Hazy IPA (6.2% ABV) which is part of Thorn Brewing’s Shades of Haze Series. The Shades of Haze series explores the limits of hazy IPAs by playing with different hop combinations added during fermentation to create the juicy, hoppy characteristics that define this style of IPA. Midnight Hazy IPA is a single-hop, hazy IPA that is exploding with floral, melon, and peach notes, bringing bold flavors of oranges and lemons.
